ATN X-Sight 4K Pro Review

This is definitely one of the best quality digital scopes to bring on your next hunting trip.

In this review, I will go through its technical specifications to show you why the ATN X Sight 4K is more than worth it.

Durability

Durability icon

The ATN X Sight 4K Pro is a rigid and lightweight night vision scope made of thermoplastic.

It’s a lightweight material, which makes it easy for me to carry around.

The body of the ATN scope is sealed shut and is water and dustproof.

The lowest temperature it can operate is as low as -20F. On the other side of the spectrum, it can operate at temperatures as high as 120 F.

However, note that the X Sight 4k Pro battery power can discharge quickly at certain temperatures.

Despite that, I’m glad this scope held up against some tough outdoor conditions. Plus points for reliability!

Affordability

Affordability icon

This night vision scope can be a bit pricey compared to standard optics and other night vision optics.

However, when you consider all of its features and its price point, I think you can agree that the X Sight Pro 4K gives quality for value and is definitely worth the price.

It has features that I would have NEVER seen in a traditional scope, so I think the high price point is justified.

This scope offers all the features and latest technology for your hunt in one digital scope!

Mounting

Mounting icon

It’s actually quite simple to mount and set up the X-Sight 4K sight. I did it in a matter of minutes.

One of the great things about this night vision scope is that the package already contains everything you need to mount and set it up.

There are several stickers on the scope body of the X Sight 4k to help guide you on the correct order to use and start up your new sight.

As long as you review and follow the directions and stickers given, you should have no problems.

Magnification

Magnification icon

This ATN X Sight Pro 4k has a 5-20x magnification.

This scope features an adjustable reticle that can be magnified throughout the entire zoom range.

In addition to that, this digital scope has a Spin to Zoom wheel that allows for better optimal control.

Sensor Technology

Sensor technology icon

I’m going to spare you the numbers and techy stuff, but plain and simple, this scope grants you vivid, clear pictures and recordings even at high magnification.

It can even capture 1080p videos at up to 120fps without pixelated quality, regardless of distance!

It’s almost like making a documentary through my scope! I sometimes feel like a cameraman for National Geographic or something.

I’d use it if I were keen to upload or stream my hunts online.

Unfortunately, this quality can’t carry over for recordings in nighttime conditions.

While they aren’t the worst, they’re still not up to par with recordings from more expensive thermal scopes.

Another incredible show of technology this scope features would be the ATN radar, which helps turn group hunting into a real team sport.

With the ATN radar, you can tag your target and even share its location with other party members.

This is done by using your smartphone to show a map with appropriate radar readings.

Once you’ve passed this information, your party mates can track the prey with you in REAL-TIME!

One-Shot-Zero Feature

One-Shot-Zero Feature icon

The One Shot Zero feature on this scope makes it stand out against even other high-quality scopes.

To zero in using this system, all you need to do is fire one shot into your target.

Once you’ve taken this initial shot, keep your reticle on the target while moving the correction reticle to the first bullet hole.

The technology on this scope will then take these coordinates into account and make the appropriate adjustments.

I’ve saved time, effort, and ammo this way!

You can make profiles for various cartridges, rifles, weather, conditions, and distances.

These profiles can then be saved for future use, making zeroing in as easy as a mere touch of a button.

However, one issue you may have with this one-shot system is that it sometimes resets upon powering off.

While this is not an issue with all models, there have been reports from some customers of the zero profile resetting and de-zeroing if the scope has been powered off for a long time.

Updating your software/firmware can also result in such issues.

Day and Night Modes

Day and Night Modes

Let’s talk about the day and night vision mode options on this X Sight 4k scope.

This is a great scope for daytime use with clear, lifelike images, especially at lower magnifications.

However, you can expect some image distortion once you start zooming in.

Under good conditions, you can spot targets more than 600 yards away. I’ve found that with a little bit of practice, you can even hit targets up to 1000 yards away!

Things are different for night vision, however.

While the 4K sensor can pick up the picture’s contrast even in low light conditions, expect some distortion once you zoom in.

If you use the included IR illuminator, you can pick up targets up to 150 yards.

However, note that the IR illuminator works like a flashlight, so any dust or humidity will be picked up by the scope, resulting in limited night vision range and visibility.

For better options in the dark, you can check out our buying guide on low-light scopes.

Ballistic Calculator

Ballistic calculator icon

This is another one of the STANDOUT features of the X Sight 4K Pro.

The ballistic calculator considers the various factors affecting precision, such as humidity, wind speed and direction, pressure, altitude, and temperature.

After it factors all this in, all I have to do is enter the bullet profile and gun model.

It will automatically adjust the scope’s reticle according to the various aspects.

This gives you a more precise shot; I didn’t need to do the ballistic math manually, as it did all the work for me!

Battery

Battery icon

The X-Sight 4K Pro uses internal rechargeable batteries that provide 18+ hours of operation, thanks to the ultra-low power consumption of the new processor.

This starkly contrasts with most other scopes that use AA batteries for only 4-10 hours of operation.

I found it invaluable on nighttime hunts!

Ease of Use

Ease of use icon

The problem with most devices that come with many features is that they tend to be overwhelming and complicated to use.

That’s why I was pleasantly surprised to know that the X Sight 4K Pro, for all its features, only has 5 buttons.

This makes it extremely easy and hassle-free to navigate, review, and flip through features without the hassle of having to go through multiple buttons.

Display

Display icon

The ATN X-Sight 4K boasts a very crisp display quality with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720.

Some options allow you to adjust brightness, contrast, and gamma. Every feature is carefully placed on the screen to avoid clutter on your hunt.

Video quality and recording capability are in full HD. I highly recommend it for hunters looking to upload their adventures on Youtube.

Included Accessories

Included Accessories icon

This day-and-night scope comes with an impressive list of included accessories.

When you factor all these in, you get a really great bargain! It even comes with an entire illuminator and multiple mounting options!

A USB Type C cable is also included in the box for quick and easy charging and data transfer.

Despite all its impressive included accessories, the purchase comes missing one important thing: An SD card!

Additional Features

Additional Features icon

This scope, just like other ATN smart devices, comes with a bunch of additional features, including Wi-Fi Streaming for both iOS and Android.

And just like other ATN scopes, the ATN X-Sight 4k has a recoil-activated video function (RAV).

RAV works by video recording 10 seconds before the shot and automatically 10 seconds after.

It’s easy to review and even share your experience! I found it easy to track my shots when viewing the footage.

Another very interesting feature is the “dual-stream video mode,” which was previously unavailable on other ATN scopes.

This much-awaited feature that was previously unavailable on older versions allows you to stream in HD while you also record video straight into the SD card at the same time.

Technology Issues

Technology Issues

The biggest issue with the ATN X-Sight 4k Pro is the very steep learning curve that it comes with.

With all of its high-tech features, this isn’t a beginner-friendly scope. It isn’t quite just plug-and-play, either.

To connect to this scope, you need to download at least one additional app to your smartphone.

Additionally, as with all digital systems, there are bound to be some software issues that come with it.

About ATN

ATN logo

Originally founded in 1995, American Technologies Network (ATN) is currently the leading Tech Optics company.

They specialize in 4K Resolution Digital Smart Optics for Day and Night Operations and Smart Thermal Imaging optics.

Their products are popular among outdoor enthusiasts, the military, and law enforcement.

I’ve personally used a few myself and found their scopes to be excellent in the field.

ATN was created by Americans in the US, for Americans, more than 20 years ago.

Now, the company is one of the leading manufacturers of smart optics, especially scopes.

Who is the ATN X-Sight 4K Pro 5-20X Best Suited to?

I would recommend the ATN X-Sight 4k Pro to night hunters who want an AFFORDABLE and PRECISE scope without spending too much on a night vision scope.

A standard night vision can’t record videos or has a ballistic calculator as ATN does.

You can get all that plus more for cheaper with the ATN X-Sight 4K Pro.

However, you must familiarize yourself with all the technical stuff. You will learn on the job, but it’s best to get a heads-up.

To be honest, I was a bit hesitant at first to try this scope because it seemed too techy and digital.

But after giving it a chance and learning all the ins and outs, it’s become one of my favorites!

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What are the Differences Between the ATN X-Sight and Thor Scopes?

The main difference is that the ATN X-Sight is a night vision scope, while the Thor is a thermal vision scope.

Both use different technologies to work, so it’s just a matter of preference.

You can learn more about their differences in my night vision vs. thermal comparison guide.

How Long Does It Take to Charge the Battery Life?

On average, it may take around 40-60 minutes to fully charge a dead battery. With a higher-amp USB cable, it will probably take less time, maybe around 30 minutes.

Can the ATN X-Sight 4K Scope be Used During the Day Without Using Battery Power?

Unfortunately, no.

This scope needs a power source to operate its viewfinder and other features, unlike a traditional scope which does not.

Final Thoughts: Is the ATN X-Sight 4K Pro Rifle Scope Worth It?

YES.

I would say that this day and night vision scope is definitely worth it.

This new scope from the 4k Pro line is definitely a level up from those of the X Sight II line.

It may be a bit pricey, but keep in mind that this gives multiple features for under $1000 without sacrificing quality.

Its new diopter system and processor are all extra points for applause.

In fact, I’d go so far as to call this the digital hunting scope that gives the best value for money.

If you want to level up your laser range finder, we suggest getting the ATN auxiliary ballistic laser attachment.
