This phenomenal holographic sight is lightweight and compact.

The clean design, 1x magnification, and crystal clear optics on the EOTech XPS2-0 allow for fast target acquisition which is a huge advantage on the field.

These features include a great field of view, a huge sight window, and an incredible red holographic reticle.

If you need to customize your weapon with a magnifier and iron sights for co-witness, this holographic weapon sight provides you with enough rail space.

This optic will allow you to focus and shoot a target from even 100 yards away; I’ve found it perfect for close-quarters and short engagement distances.

On top of all that, the EOTech XPS2-0 has been tried and tested in combat worldwide.

Build & Design – 5/5

Build & Design icon

This holographic sight is extraordinarily sturdy, with a tough protective hood to keep the optic safe.

This hood is made from a strong aluminum material to keep the optic safe no matter if you bump or knock it around.

And I bumped it around more times than I could count.

Since its controls are hidden within the sight hood, you don’t need to worry about any obvious knobs that can easily be broken off.

The sight itself is made of durable plastic and aluminum, with the touch controls made of a silicone or rubber material.

Durability – 5/5

Durability icon

EOTech is known for being used by special operations forces throughout the world.

Thus, you can bet that this weapon sight has been tried and tested in the harshest conditions in the global war on terror.

No amount of civilian durability testing could match the real-world conditions that these red dot sights have endured and survived.

I have verified its abilities in the thickest fighting.

You know it can survive falls or be knocked around while still helping you aim at your target! If it’s good enough for the troops, it’s excellent for you and me!

This sight is fully waterproof and can be used in the sun and rain.

Weight – 4.5/5

Weight

This EOTech holographic weapon sight weighs at 9 ounces.

It’s not the lightest HWS sight, but I didn’t really have a problem with the weight since it comes with a built-in base mount, so the extra weight makes sense.

The battery does add a little weight as well, but without it, the sight will not power properly.

Honestly, the weight didn’t bother me that much anyway and it was barely noticeable after using it so many times.

Ease of Use – 5/5

Ease of Use icon

The EOTech XPS2-0 is straightforward to use.

It has only a few buttons and a clean interface that eliminates fumbling and mistaken presses.

All this simplicity is great to have, especially for beginners and those moving from traditional scopes, like me.

Additionally, this holographic red dot sight has generous eye relief and can be used with both eyes open.

Adjustments – 4.5/5

Adjustments icon

Adjustments to the EOTech XPS2-0 are simple and easy.

For dot adjustment, each click is .5 MOA for precise changes.

Each adjustment makes a distinct click, so you know that every change is properly implemented.

A coin or flathead screwdriver can easily be used for MOA adjustments. I could make MOA adjustments in a matter of SECONDS!

Reticle – 5/5

Reticle icon

This weapon sight comes with 3 EOTech reticle choices.

The first reticle comes with a HUGE 68 MOA circle with a 1 MOA center dot.

The 68 MOA ring helps with increasing shooting speed (especially with large targets).

The 1 MOA red dot in the center of the circle, on the other hand, allows for precise shots with smaller targets at a distance.

The result is a perfect blend of precision and speed for the best shooting experience!

I’ve found it to have the ease of use of a red dot with the precision focus of a sniper reticle.

This optic also features a two-dot reticle with this ring, which could help you estimate the distance of the target.

It’s no big deal either if you have a hard time with this kind of aiming point, as you also have a choice of just a single 1 MOA dot.

These reticles come with multiple brightness settings for all possible light situations, including, of course, bright light and low light situations.

That said, I’ve found EOTech holographic weapon sights to work better in lower-light conditions.

Sight Picture – 5/5

Sight Picture icon

The EOTech XPS2-0 comes with an enormous rectangular sight window to see more of the target and achieve a better sight picture.

It has the widest sight picture out of any holographic sight I’ve used!

Additionally, unlike other red dot sights that tend to have the front lens reflecting bright colors, the EOTech does not have this sight window problem.

Power Source – 4/5

Power Source icon

The EOTech XPS2-0 sight is powered by a single CR123 battery located in the front battery compartment with a single screw-on cap.

While it can be removed by hand, I recommend using a flathead screwdriver or coin to get it open easier.

A great feature is that the cap has a wire holding it on to prevent losing it.

When used at room temperature at brightness level 12, it can last for approximately 1000 hours.

However, one disadvantage to this is that the battery can be expensive and hard to find.

Auto Shut Down Feature – 5/5

Auto Shut Down Feature icon

A great thing about this weapon sight is that it automatically shuts down after 8 hours of idle time.

You can even program it to turn off after only 4 hours if you want to.

This is great as it helps save battery power if you forget to turn it off. I’ve found this feature useful after an intense and tiring day at the range.

Mounting – 5/5

Mounting icon

This weapon sight comes with an integrated base mount that saves you time and money looking for the right mounting.

You can attach it straight out of the box!

It can also attach easily to a 1″ weaver mount or 1913 Picatinny rail and be easily mounted to any weapon, including bolt-action rifles, shotguns, and crossbows.

About EOTech

EOTech logo

EOTech was created in 1995 by the Environmental Research Institute of Michigan to apply holographic technology to small firearms sights.

In 1996, they presented the first HWS and won the Optic of the Year Award from the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence.

Since then, EOTech has been a leading manufacturer of professional-grade optics trusted by even the U.S. Special Operations and the US Marine Corps.

They have some of the BEST holographic weapon sights you can find on the market.

I can’t sing their praises enough, having used their products for both hunting and self-defense applications.

I tend to agree!

Testimonials

Let’s look at some reviews from real buyers who’ve tried and tested this holographic sight on their weapons.

This satisfied customer has astigmatism and has written in his review that he’s found the EOTech XPS2-0 to be the best holographic sight for his weapon for three years (and counting!)

“I didn’t want to go back to blue hue red dots after looking through the EOTech glass. My eyes can’t adjust well to the circle of death, but the [EOTech XPS2-0] was perfect for my astigmatism. The crisp 1 MOA dot that won’t cover the target. This is like switching from 720p to 4k. The red dots on other sights appear blurry by comparison. EOTech also has great services for the price.” – Anonymous

Let us now look at the review of another shooter who believed he got value for price on this sight.

“One of the best tips I’ve gotten is, you don’t put a cheap optic on a quality gun. I couldn’t be happier with [EOTech XPS2-0] on my MPX. The brightness is acceptable both indoor and out; it can be adjusted by simply pressing the buttons.” – Anonymous

All in all, this sight has overwhelmingly positive reviews from many satisfied shooters who believe their EOTech XPS2-0 purchase was very much worth the cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the Difference Between a Red Dot Sight and a Holographic Sight?

Holographic sights are red dot sights, but not all red dot sights are holographic sights.

The biggest difference between holographic sights and other reflex sights is its technology.

A red dot sight projects a reticle forward then reflects on a lens to make it visible to the shooter.

On the other hand, a holographic sight uses holographic technology to create the reticle image on the sight picture.

Generally, a holographic sight is more light in weight than a red dot sight.

What Is the Difference Between the EOTech XPS and EXPS?

The main difference between the EOTech XPS and EXPS is their height once added to the rifle.

Since the EXPS3 has a built-in Q.D. attachment system lever, it sits at a lower third height.

On the other hand, the XPS3 sits lower, at absolute co-witness height.

An XPS3 works better than an EXPS3 on guns such as G3s, where the receiver is slightly higher than the stock.

When choosing between the two, I suggest looking at how your cheek rests on the stock and how much eye relief you can get between the two optics.

What EOTech Model Does the U.S. Military Use?

They usually use the EOTech 553, EOTech 512, and, more recently, the newer EOTech EXPS3.

Is the EOTech XPS2-0 Night Vision Compatible?

Unfortunately, this red dot sight does NOT feature night vision compatibility.

I’d recommend attaching a separate night vision scope to the rear of your EOTech if you need to shoot in the dark.

Final Verdict: Is This Holographic Weapon Sight Worth It?

If you have the money to spend, then YES!

The EOTech XPS2 is the best holographic sight on the market if you need an optic for CQB situations or in range within 150-200 yards.

This durable, reliable sight is bound to make hunting fun at short to mid-distance, even in the rain or sun.

Plus, it has an auto-shutdown feature to save battery life!

I can assure you that this sight is worth the price you pay. Take this as a sign to get this weapon sight for your gun now!
